Settling Into the New Year

It's a typical, overcast mountain day on this 2nd of January. I'm thinking about the New Year and what it will bring, as time goes by and the spinning wheel spins.

More time at home, I think, is in the future. I love doing the fiber shows and will certainly do the Bedford festival this year, but it seems best for the business and myself to stay closer to the shop and my dear friends and customers here. I saw more people this past year as the season progressed and I'm looking forward to a good year this season!

Surrounded by books and yarn, what more could anyone ask? I've been adding books to the web site as fast as I can manage it. A pile of documents, photographs and autographs is adorning my desk, also waiting for attention and placement on the site and in the shop. Between spinning, computer work and the occasional visit with friends, I do keep busy.

A few changes are happening. A young family I've grown close to is heading across the country, beginning a new life in Alaska. Some good people in our community are facing challenges in health and others have gone to face the great mystery that is ahead for us all. Power outages and other causes have burned a few houses in the area and some landmark trees fell with this past ice storm. But change is part of life, although sometimes it's hard to adapt. But good changes also happen. New friends in the community are exposing me to great food and new adventures. The new shop is so much better than the old one for the process of creating yarn and spinning fiber. All in all, things are good and I am content.
