Tuesday Night Dinner Got a Little Crazy

Pesto shimp dish and awesome muffins!
Wonderful meal!

Dinner at Trinity and Josh's place included absolutely wonderful grilled and sauced steak bits, a truly delightful pasta and shrimp dish with pesto (I think), awesome dip stuff with chips, really amazing muffins by Kym (she's becoming an expert with the muffin pan) sweet potato soup, bread and strawberries and cake for dessert.

Then things got really fun. Trinity's theme for the evening was "first date" so we dressed up like '50s date night. Or as close an approximation as we could get. Trinity did a Patrick County version:

The Collection Grows

The collection grows
There's always room for one more....

A new camel arrived yesterday, and customers are starting to wonder about me. Still, it does give me an opportunity to explain that a camel can be a fiber animal!

No choking hazard here

And although he isn't as charmingly delicate as his predecessors, this fellow has true camel attitude. And a saddle!

More New Arrivals at Greenberry House:

There is also some absolutely luxurious cashmere, the first we've had at the shop. Astonishingly soft! I have some of their Icelandic/angora blend roving to dye this coming week; looking forward to working on that!

Weekend Report

'New
Another Bag

I had a wonderful time at the Covered Bridge Festival in Woolwine on Saturday. There was a slight threat of rain all day that never materialized, so it was nice and cool. Lots of people came out, mostly folks I knew so it was even more fun to chat and visit along with selling a few skeins of yarn and some fiber. There are some young spinners that I see every year at this festival and it's fun to catch up with what they are doing. The Covered Bridge Festival is a really nice vent. This year's success is a tribute to all the hard work Patrick County's tourism department and other county staff puts into it!

I don't usually have the funds to buy a lot at festivals, but I couldn't resist this funny little bag. I have half a dozen bags to carry around my current projects, but there's always room for one more. This one is SO not me, but I don't care.

Busy day on Sunday; this time with people in looking for books and spending a lot of time browsing the shelves. A young mother sat down in the floor with her little boy and read Curious George to him while a knitting shopper relaxed in the wicker chair and took her shoes off. That's the kind of place I want the shop to be!

No other news; the bunnies are growing like weeds and I need to get more pictures of them soon. They'll be coming up for sale in the next few weeks; there are white ones and black ones!

Choking Hazards

JAG started a new photo group at Flickr, all about "Completely irresistible and irresponsible small things - mostly toys - that children (and dogs, and even the occasional adult) would be unable to keep from putting in their mouths. Look at this as a sort of public service announcement." Who doesn't love small things, but these folks are obsessed with them. Don't miss the discussions in the comments and the notes on the photos!

And I don't even know what this is about, but go on over, 'cause it's going to be something, I think, and you want to be a part of it!

Edited May 17 PM to add:

I just realized that Memorial Day weekend is coming up, and so is the Hit and Miss in the Mountains Festival here in Meadows of Dan. Y'all come out and see us!

And also check in at the Lonesome River Band web site. They have some awesome videos on the site from their recent show in Canada!

Saturday Sky...and Presents!

Saturday Sky
Snowy Saturday Morning in March

OK, so I know now that Mother Nature was only kidding with those gorgeous days early in the week. This morning the wind is howling and snow is blowing wildly across the fields. The wild birds were all huddled in the sweet shrub right outside the window early, waiting for me to bring out sunflower seeds and goodies! Water had to be hauled to the rabbits but otherwise they don't seem to be minding the cold, in spite of a few short coats!

Gifted!

When I was at Sandra's she showed me these gorgeous glasses she had found recently, and I supposed my eyes lit up too much because she graciously gave me these two. I absolutely adore them and am thinking to keep them here at the shop so that they will be safe from Dad, TJ and dust! How about y'all coming by one evening for a glass of wine?

And Maggie from Maggie's Farm sent the collection of wonderful scented soaps! I worked on her business web page for her and had admired the homemade bars, all nicely wrapped in beautiful quilt material. I guess my broad hint for lavender was taken! The scent is delightful and I'm going to really enjoy using these.
