It's About Time....

Snow. Again.
Snowy weekend in Meadows of Dan

and how I've been spending it lately. A little snow shoveling, a little nice time with stitching friends and a WHOLE lot of typing. My self-imposed deadlines are far more harsh than any set for me by anyone else! The Shelor Book project is coming along, though. I'm finally on Chapter 11 and see the end in sight. Way out there, but in sight. I also have 300 yards of black angora to spin up before the 12th of this month, maybe. Not sure that one will be happening, though, but I'm going to try!

The groundhog didn't see his shadow here; yesterday I was out shoveling snow in the rain. It rained all day with a little icy stuff in the morning. More snow is forecast for this weekend. I'm not sure I have a lot of faith in forecasters, four-footed or otherwise. Guess we have to take it as it comes but the shop would be happier with more company and fewer days closed due to bad weather!

TJ on alert
Pointing

The dogs and cats are happy to have me home so much more, though. They stay close while I'm typing and Paisley spends most of her time curled up in my neglected knitting bag at my feet. Barnabas stretches out on the top of the sewing cabinet by the window, soaking up sun if there is any. The dogs are either piled up on the couch or on the rug at my feet, depending on how warm it is. Lily hasn't enjoyed the snow as much as she used to; I think the cold is getting into her almost thirteen year old joints. TJ thinks going out in the snow is an excuse for a romp! He didn't like our morning walk under the cloudy sky this morning, though. I think the wind was blowing too much and it had him a little freaked. A neighbor said he saw a coyote near their house a couple of weeks ago and I wonder sometimes if TJ doesn't pick up the scent of something strange in the air.

Still River Mill Mystery Batt
Still River Mill Mystery Batt

I tool a break from typing last night to watch a long-neglected Netflix DVD and finish spinning the mystery batt Chris gave me. Lovely to spin and fun to watch the new colors coming. I got a lot of yards out of it; I think it was about four ounces. It's going to be a lovely, soft and fine yarn; probably DK weight.

The only other thing I've been doing is cooking a bit. I made a really good pot of chili a week or so ago made with some nice local beef my sister-in-law brought me. Then I made a big pot of vegetable beef soup with frozen stuff from our garden, local potatoes, local stew beef. Last night I thawed out more of the beef and there's a huge bowl of homemade spaghetti sauce in the fridge.

Natalie is supposed to be coming up in awhile and we'll be recording another podcast. Last week we talked a lot about spinning!
